As we’d mentioned in our last blog, this month Taste Collection has the pleasure of supporting and working as an ally for National Breast Cancer Awareness month! A variety of events around the world are organized in October for this cause including walks, runs and the pink illumination of landmark buildings. Taste Collection is proud to help by opening with an entirely pink theme; from our metallic rose gold in-store telephone to our baby-pink balloons, we’re here and we’re conscious and ready to take action! Come by the shop and donate to ‘Turning Point’ – an incredible charity from Georgia looking to open in New York whose work helps survivors of breast cancer in rehabilitation. Turning Point provides aftercare emotionally and physically. For every donation made or any purchase in Taste Collection this month, you will be given a raffle ticket which will put you in the draw to win a bike from GoGo Gone Bikes, Lower East Side Manhattan.
We partnered with Award-winning Norwegian designer/artist Lise Ellingsen to host a ‘Blondes Make Better T-shirts & Push Up for Support’ fundraiser last night. During this fundraiser, we hosted presentations and a work-out competition to quite literally push-up to show our support.
Joining us last night as our guest speaker and Breast Cancer Survivor, Zenaida Lorenzo. Zenaida gave a beautiful speech addressing the importance about pushing through cancer and actively choosing to move forward, while also addressing the incredible importance of her mum and all the women who surrounded her with strength and support when she needed it most. Zenaida Lorenzo is a sales, achievement and performance trainer, coach, consultant and speaker. Her leadership ability, community service and her personal story of overcoming incredible odds has won her several awards. She has been featured in Women Biz, Our World, New Jersey Daily Record, Neighborhood New and Cable Vision’s Meet the Leaders. She consults, speaks, writes, inspires and touches the hearts of many.
Incredible vegan chef, Elena Beresneva donated her time and skill for our event by producing vegan veggie rolls and stunningly glitter-filled desserts. As mentioned by The Village Voice, “Chef Elena Beresneva’s passion for cooking is rooted in a desire to convert her favorite childhood meals into vegan alternatives that preserve the integrity of Russian culture.” Pure Green, our incredible neighborhood friends and fabulous juice sponsor, donated an assorted pallet of juices for this event, served by their sweet gals Sasha Alvarez and Cassy Surianello. Ottos Tacos shoutout- Born in LA, raised in NYC- Otto simply loves tacos and sells his wondrous treats in branches all over the city! Ottos is our go-to taco place in the city! Their tortillas are made from scratch daily and are filled with a mouth-watering array of fillings. Thank you so much Otto for partnering with us for this event. This month you can pick up Ottos (wait for it!)… hot pink tacos!! Spotlighting Breast Cancer Awareness Month- incredible!! Last but not least, we will be holding young 26yr old entrepreneur Hannah Fastov’s bags by Go Dash Dot for the next month available for in-store purchase!
