Boucherie
Brunching is a quite serious hobby for most New Yorkers and for me Autumn is the perfect season for this. The wind is not too cold yet and the sun is no longer too warm. This is also the time that people are starting to come out all dressed up. Saturday mornings are usually where people walk around downtown and I headed to Union Square this morning. Still recovering from surgery I was craving for some Parisian fare this chilly morning and Boucherie did not disappoint in delivering the classics.
You have to start the meal with some foie gras, the pinnacle of French gastronomy. The mousse was light and flavorful and paired well with the cherry reduction. The steak frites was my option for the main course and the compound butter was slowly melting on the medium rare grass fed strip. The fries are always my favorite part of the meal with the crisp texture then dipped in the sauce. The dining room looked exactly like most places in Paris and made me crave for some dessert. “Profiteroles” was a dish that I used to serve while I was still working in France and seeing it served on the table brought back so many fond memories…
