Karenderya

Karenderya

Philippine cuisine is being driven forward by this establishment in the Hudson Valley. Karenderya has become a “Go-To” place for locals around the neighborhood for a few years now. Sharing their take on classic dishes and re-creating them as their own, creativity is the centerpiece at this restaurant. The family and honey vibe is very strong and welcoming here as well. Walking inside the dining room for the first time definitely brought back some nostalgia for me, reminding me of Tsismis a bit. Calamansi juice greeted us as we ordered for our meal and sat the tone for the rest of the evening.

The lumpia shanghai with banana ketchup and potato crisps with “Bagoong” aioli arrived first and both were excellent. “Kare Kare” and Sinigang were next to be served and these dishes just transported me back to my childhood, especially the broth. The “Bicol express” had a good sharp kick to it, which is exactly my preference and the “Shrimp Adobo” was definitely unique. We closed the meal with some Pancit bihon and this was cooked to perfection and offered the rice noodles for long life.

This was a dinner for the memories and Filipino cuisine craving has been more than satisfied… #kulinaryatravels will be back for more next week…
