Tiki on 18th

Tiki on 18th

The Tiki Bar, 1 of America’s favorite bar concepts, is holding its own here in the Adams Morgan district of DC. Known for its clever cocktails and unique Philippine cuisine, this local joint has instituted quite a following. This part of town is definitely my favorite part of the city with its vibrant nightlife and semisonic vibe. The selection of top shelf liquor definitely invites you to stay away from the normal weekend pint and go on a discovery tour of what flavor profiles pleases your palette.

I opted for a glass of Rye to start my evening as I figured it would be the perfect catch up drink to see old friends as well. As the food slowly arrived with some starters like Pinoy fries and vegetarian lumpia. Both staples in the Philippine bar scene but served with an elevated twist, the crispy head on shrimp and chicken barbecue followed next. At this point we were engaging deep into conversation when the spicy pancit with crisp pork belly arrived. I could have not asked for a better meal to cap off my first evening back in DC.

Let’s see what is up for breakfast next… #kulinaryatravels will be back for more next week…
