Our Top St. Patty’s Day Drinks (and how to make them)
March 17 is tomorrow meaning only one thing, It’s St. Patrick’s Day! Expect your local watering hole to be packed with people dressed in green, knocking back pints of Guinness and shots of whiskey before noon. While some people like to keep their drinks straight and simple, we at Taste Collection prefer throwing some cocktails in the mix. Here are our top 4 St. Patty’s Day drinks to keep you buzzed in the morning, hammered by noon, and hungover by 6pm.
Irish Coffee
Start your day with this classic mix of whiskey, coffee and cream. The breakfast of champions, best served with some Irish bacon and eggs.
Ingredients
16 oz. hot water
2 tsp. light brown sugar
2 oz. Irish whiskey
1 c. brewed coffee
1/2 c. heavy cream for topping
Chocolate shavings, for garnish
Directions
Fill two mugs with hot water and let sit 2 minutes. Pour out water and add 1 tsp light brown sugar to each mug. Pour over hot coffee and stir to dissolve sugar, then pour in some Irish whiskey (Jameson works well).
In a separate bowl with an electric mixer or by hand, whisk cream until soft peaks form. Cream should be thick but still pourable. Top coffee with cream by gently pouring over the back of a warm spoon to form a thick layer on top of coffee. Garnish with chocolate.
