UNIDAD FIFA Museum Miami Freedom Tower

World Cup fever is beginning to sweep across the United States as we are now only 19 days away from this summer’s most anticipated sporting event. For the first time in history, FIFA has expanded the tournament to 40 participating nations, with United States, Mexico, and Canada all serving as co-hosts. The final will take place on Sunday, July 19 at 3 PM at MetLife Stadium.
As a lifelong fan of Argentina, I was genuinely excited to experience this exhibit and learn more about not only the history of the World Cup, but the beautiful game itself.
The exhibition begins by highlighting the rapid rise in popularity of soccer in the United States and the growing demand for Major League Soccer, the country’s top professional soccer league. Over the years, global legends have made the transition from Europe’s elite leagues to America — icons such as Pelé and Franz Beckenbauer in the past, followed by modern superstars like David Beckham, Thierry Henry, and of course the one and only Lionel Messi.
One of the most breathtaking moments was seeing the sea of jerseys from FIFA member nations, beautifully displayed in color order. Each crest carried the pride and history of its country, creating a powerful visual tribute to the global reach of the sport.
The World Cup history section was equally impressive, presenting every champion in chronological order while highlighting the legendary players who defined each tournament. It was also refreshing to see the women’s professional game receiving equal recognition and celebration throughout the exhibit.
The film presentation gave me goosebumps. Watching the emotional history of every FIFA World Cup unfold on screen was a reminder that every moment of triumph for one nation also represents heartbreak for another — and that emotional balance is exactly what makes this game we love so special.
FIFA, we have waited… and we are ready.
